October 2026

The LMA has continued its support of the Zero Suicide Alliance (ZSA) through a new awareness video, featuring LMA members and ambassadors from around the globe, which launched today at the 6th International Zero Suicide Summit in Indonesia.

At the invitation of the Zero Suicide Alliance, through the LMA’s collective reach of football managers and coaches, the campaign seeks to engage audiences around the world to complete ZSA's free online suicide awareness training. The video reinforces the message that suicide prevention is everyone's responsibility and most importantly that help is available to those who may be struggling.

The campaign also supports Zero Suicide Alliance's ambition to adapt and develop future versions of its suicide awareness training. Recognising that global reach does not automatically mean global relevance, ZSA is seeking partners to help co-design training with communities, ensuring it reflects different cultural contexts, languages and support pathways.

The full-length video, available to watch via the LMA’s social media channels, delivers the shared message:

"Wherever you are in the world, you can learn the skills to support someone who may be struggling."

Jürgen Klopp, LMA Member and Germany Head Coach, said: “As LMA members, in partnership with now Prime Minister Andy Burnham, we have been really proud to support the Zero Suicide Alliance suicide prevention training and Shining a Light on Suicide campaigns since 2021.

"Now LMA members and ambassadors around the globe are honoured to come together in a new video campaign to support the Zero Suicide Alliance as they adapt suicide prevention to reach people around the world.

"Wherever you are in the world, you can learn the skills to help someone who might be struggling."

Richard Bevan OBE, LMA Chief Executive, commented: "The LMA is proud to continue its support of Zero Suicide Alliance and Shining a Light on Suicide. Our members and ambassadors have once again come together to lend their voices to an issue that affects families, communities and workplaces across the world.

"The message at the heart of the film is a simple but powerful one: we can all play a part in suicide prevention. By completing Zero Suicide Alliance's free training, people can gain the knowledge and confidence to recognise when someone may be struggling and help them access support."

Dr Claire Iveson, Director at the Zero Suicide Alliance, said:

"Suicide doesn't discriminate. It can affect anyone, anywhere in the world. When you're concerned someone might be struggling, it's natural to feel unsure about what to say or do. But not saying or doing anything can feel worse.

"Our training is already being accessed in countries around the world, and we're increasingly hearing from learners, organisations and communities asking whether we can create versions of the training that reflect their language, culture or community context to make this learning even more accessible and relevant. Looking ahead, we hope to work with international partners to co-design culturally relevant training informed by local expertise, lived experience and community insight.

"We're incredibly proud to work alongside the LMA on this campaign. Their support helps amplify these messages and reach more people worldwide. The more people who feel equipped to talk about suicide and offer support, the greater opportunity we have to save lives."

Each year, more than 720,000 people worldwide die by suicide. Behind every statistic is a person, a family and a community experiencing the devastating impact of loss. ZSA's free online training helps people recognise warning signs, understand how to offer support and develop the confidence to have potentially life-saving conversations. Through the video, the campaign aims to encourage more people globally to take the training and play an active role in suicide prevention within their families, communities and workplaces.
