LMA - 8th October 2026 - LMA Supports Prostate United Campaign

October 2026

The LMA is proud to continue its long-standing support for Prostate Cancer UK and the Prostate United campaign, which brings together the footballing community to raise awareness and funds to stop men dying from prostate cancer.

The Prostate United challenge calls on football supporters and club staff to run, walk or cycle every day in the month to help fund lifesaving tests and treatments to save men’s lives.

This year over 4,000 fans and club staff have raised over £500,000 already - it’s the biggest grassroots football fundraiser in the UK which sees fans from across the football pyramid competing in the Prostate United league table - Manchester United currently top the table followed by Liverpool and Arsenal. The top ten also includes current holders Doncaster Rovers and Millwall.

Prostate cancer is now the most common cancer in the UK, and the only major cancer without a screening programme. The disease affects 1 in 8 men, and the risk is significantly higher for black men, men over 50 and those with a family history of the disease. With prostate cancer, getting an early diagnosis can make all the difference, as when it is detected early, it is much easier to monitor and treat.

To show their support, managers and head coaches across the Premier League and EFL will this weekend be proudly wearing their Prostate Cancer UK ‘Man of Men’ badges on the touchline. Support for Prostate United has also come from across the LMA membership, with members proudly holding the Prostate United scarf as part of a striking montage shared across the LMA’s social media channels.

For over 12 years the LMA has worked in partnership with Prostate Cancer UK to raise awareness and has helped share the experiences of its members who have recently been affected by the disease, including Chris Hughton, Mick Harford and Brian Horton. And they were joined in supporting Prostate United, by Sam Allardyce who helped launch the campaign this September.

Richard Bevan OBE, LMA Chief Executive, commented: “We are incredibly proud of our long-standing partnership with Prostate Cancer UK and it’s a cause that resonates right across our membership. Prostate United is a fantastic initiative to raise awareness of prostate cancer both within the football community, but further afield, and, since its launch, thousands of people have shown their support and helped make a difference.

“Our members' health and wellbeing is hugely important to us and remains a significant area of support that we provide to them and their families. During the 2025-26 season, over 300 health assessments were delivered as part of our Wellness Programme. These health check-ups are absolutely vital in helping to spot the early signs and symptoms of diseases such as prostate cancer.

“Through the stories of Chris Hughton, Mick Harford and Brian Horton, our partnership with Prostate Cancer UK continues to be a real force for good, and we are looking forward to supporting another brilliant Prostate United campaign.

Seren Evans, Senior Head of Mass Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “Prostate United harnesses the power of the football community to achieve amazing things for men, and the support of the League Managers Association helps us reach further and grow faster every year. It’s powerful to see managers and head coaches standing shoulder to shoulder with football fans taking part in Prostate United this October, showing that when football comes together behind a cause, it can make a real difference to men's lives.

“Prostate United has kicked off in style for 2026, and we’ve seen the most competitive year so far, with clubs like Doncaster Rovers, Wycombe Wanderers and Millwall showcasing the strength of their fanbases to challenge the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal at the top of the fundraising league table.

The camaraderie, passion and friendly rivalry between clubs and supporters is what makes this campaign so special, and with over £500,000 raised so far it’s set to be the biggest year yet. We’re proud to have the LMA standing alongside clubs, fans and communities across the UK, helping us raise vital awareness of the UK's most common cancer and funds for groundbreaking research to build a better future for men.”
