The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) Annual General Meeting was held today on Friday 20th December during the German Masters qualifiers in Barnsley.
The AGM was well-attended by the membership and saw the presentation of the Accounts and Directors Report which were unanimously accepted by the meeting.
Five people stood for election to the board; Jan Verhaas, Dominic Dale, Joe Perry, Mike Dunn and Peter Lines. The result was that both Mike Dunn and Peter Lines were successfully elected by the membership.
WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson said: “I would like to welcome both Mike Dunn and Peter Lines to the board of the WPBSA. Over the past ten years snooker has seen unprecedented growth and the creation of new opportunities at both professional and amateur level and it remains as important as ever that we have significant player input into our work.
“Both Mike and Peter bring a wealth of playing experience and I know both are keen to serve the WPBSA as directors and use their expertise to benefit our many projects around the world.”
Ferguson also acknowledged the work carried out by Jan Verhaas during his three-year term as a director:
“I would like to extend my thanks to Jan Verhaas for all of his hard work during his time on the board of the WPBSA. Jan has successfully overseen a number of projects, in particular the introduction of the new Rulebook for Snooker and Billiards which was launched this August.
“He also undertaken significant work in helping to maintain the high standards of officiating in our sport globally, much of which remains ongoing and we look forward to continuing to work with Jan and his expert panel of senior referees.”
